GZ-006 Zabat (Build Review)

This review has only one thing to mention, but it’s an important one.

Point of no return:

Once you put B3 and B4 on the body, they are on there forever! I ruined my Zabat trying to take it apart for a swap. The tab that’s highlighted cannot stand the strain of trying to remove those pieces later.

I got a good deal on a used one. The Genesis ligers are just as enjoyable used, since they already come mostly pre-built!

GZ-013 Bamburian

This was one of the hero rides from Genesis. Underneath the panda armor lies Bear Fighter’s frame. The weapons have Blox-sized pegs, and you can mount Blox weapons on the shoulders. Best of all, it’s an oddly cute kit.

GZ-007 Sword Wolf

Sword Wolf is one of the hero zoids of the anime. It’s a recolor of Whitz Wolf, with added swords and such. I had W.W. back when it came out, and wasn’t impressed, so I ignored this release until I saw a photo at the right angle and realized it was cool. The swords really complete the kit. I’m going to repaint this one–some day. (Thanks to Alteka for the “SHAWINGUUUU” text in the last pic.)

GZ-017 Decalto Dragon

Decalto Dragon, the Genesis recolor/repackage of Deathraser/Parablade. I didn’t like the orginal’s colors that much, but these new ones really work, since they seemed to have the dragon mode in mind when they picked them. (As such, the separate kits don’t look so hot, but that’s ok.)

GZ-014 Deadly Kong

Deadly Kong is a retooling of the ever popular Iron Kong. The face doesn’t say “deadly” to me, so much as it says “friendly”. In the anime, that stupid bandage conceals some nasty weaponry. In real life, the weaponry was sold separately, several months after DK’s release.

GZ-006 Zabat

Zabat was originally introduced in the NJR, but the colors didn’t grab me like these do. Zabat’s not motorized, but there’s a fussy button you can press to flap the wings, and there is a cruise missile with a pullback motor to deploy. There are two different heads you can use: one that is more bat-like, for automated drone mode, and one that can fit a pilot, which I prefer. There is also a handy stand for hanging upside down when not in use. (Take the pilot out first, for his sake!)

One day I will replace the cruise missile with a big fat bomb from a G1 Ramjet, but since that requires sawing and thus effort, it may be a while.

Update, 04/2011: I got another one of these MIB, as a backup, since there was no turning back from the swap I did.

GZ-008 Soul Tiger

Soul Tiger is what Rayse Tiger should have been, all with the backpack and the tubes and such. They rewired it so that the lights are controlled by the backpack instead of the motor switch, so that means good pics of the light up action! Also, check him out under the blacklight!

GZ-005 Hebby Rhimos

One of the many Engrish victims of the Genesis line. It’s a good bet they meant “heavy”. I like the colors here. I don’t know if you can tell by these pics (bad lighting day), but there are two shades of gray-blue armor, plus orange canopy glass!
