M.S.G. #20 Gatling Gun (Build Review)

A motorized gatling gun with a totally hidden motor? How did they do it? The answer may surprise you.

The motor:

It’s a standard windup motor (more on that later). Once you put the piece on the windup knob, the mechanism is completely hidden. Last pic is some crappy phone vidya, showing how it works.
Painters beware:

Part #10 slides over the gun barrels and is a pretty tight fit. I’m not sure how you’d go about painting this.
Watch where you cut that:

The gate marks for part #15 here are right on the little bolts, so watch out!
Finishing up:

1) The ammo box can go on either side. 2) If you leave these parts off (made for the hands of Giant Human Like Battle Robots), you may have more options for mounting the gatling on Zoids.
But wait, there’s more!

Since the motor is a standard windup motor, you can use the TS motor. It just takes one tiny cut (or a ton of more intricate ones I’m too lazy to figure out). The only downside is the huge gap in the back, where the windup knob should be. I’d like to be able to run the wire through there, but I haven’t looked into it yet.
It works!

M.S.G. #20 Gatling Gun

This is from Kotobukiya’s M.S.G. (Modeling Support Goods) line of weapons and parts. While M.S.G. stuff is made for Giant Human Like Battle Robots, this one can ~~(probably)~~ be used on Zoids, so I’m including it here. Also, I have no other outlet for non-Zoid models. For now, check out the build review and this awesome vidya (which means it’s not mine).

Looking at all the reviews on the internets, it is painfully clear that I am missing a pic of this with the barrels spinning in a lovely motion blur. I will see what I can do about this!

CP-24 Flexible Booster Unit (Limited)

For the longest time I wondered if this limited version’s grey matched the weird grey of NJR Hammer Rock. It didn’t help that there were no good pictures anywhere. Well, now I know! The answer: close, but NO. This grey is very neutral, with no weird lavender cast to it.

HMM clear parts? OH MY! This was a festival limited, like all the other HMM CP sets, but the first to feature clear parts (most have been chromed).

CP-15 Assault Gatling Unit

I’ve been neglecting the missile box part of this unit, because I find the gun more flexible on its own—it can go almost anywhere! The whole unit is made for Elephander or Blade Liger, though it definitely looks better on the former.

Blox Customize Parts: Clear Blox

I don’t know much about these. I think they came out late 2004. I ended up using some on my Decalto Dragon. Toy-Wave still has them for pretty cheap, so I got a ton.

Zoids Special Gatling Parts (on LB Red Horn)

I may never find the LB Darkhorn at a sane price, but thanks to a promo trying to get people to buy ZED (Evo Drive) zoids, and MANY thanks to ebay’s apezyap, I got the most important part—the guns.

ZP-A (on Museum Geno Saurer)

I discovered that ZP-A (Power-up Parts for the Genesis hero zoids) looked really good on ol’ Boney here. The sword is the “Bio Crusher” for Sword Wolf, and the thingies are the “Wind Dancers” for Rainbow Jerk.

ZP-B (on Deadly Kong)

This pack, ZP-B, came with Deadly Kong’s wrist claws (the “Scissor Arm”), as well as some blades for Lanstag called—LULZ—Twinkle Breakers. Since I don’t have a Lanstag, I thought I’d make Deadly Kong even deadlier.
