1981–82. The first American release, and the testing ground for the OJR in 1983. I had most of these when I was a young’un.
Behold, the king of the whiteheads! This poor guy has seen better days. I’m missing half the little guns, and the neck connector has been replaced (that part is too fragile for what it needs to do). Giant Zrk (Bigasauru in the OJR) was the first large Zoid, and the basis for later large kits Mammoth (neck becomes trunk) and Gordos (extra armor added).
Somehow in all these years I never managed to get a loose copy of this one until very recently (I had that RS one, minus a head, but I didn’t know that was something different).
It really swims, though I’ve never had the courage to test it myself. The tanks have a piece of styrofoam in them to make them float (see pic #4). Known as RMZ-05 Aquadon (OJR), or Aquazoid (OER), or “frog looking thing” here.
