In which I post screenshots of almost every iteration of this site, all the way back to the beginning of time.

1996

The only thing this is missing is a “best viewed in Netscape” button. And content. But hey, this was the second Zoids site ever. (The first one was a 1995 user page on teleport.com that was gone shortly after. As you can see, I have been using some variation of that background image (from Techno Zoids boxes) since the beginning!
1997

In which I discover animated gifs. Also, my first plastic swap (an all silver Merda)! I didn’t have a camera at the time, so I just shooped it, and provided shooping instructions.
1998

I got burned out on inter-nets.
2000–2001

I had a nifty ascii-art splash page, even though splash pages are stupid and annoying and useless. The 2000 subpage header was a bad shoop of Death Saurer about to destroy Atlanta, because I lived there at the time, and hated it. The 2001 one is something else, because I moved away. On both, the bad posterization effect was intentional (trying to make bad photos look less bad doesn’t always work).
2003

I tried a different color scheme. That’s it.
2006 (or thereabouts)

Still blue, but starting to look like the current layouts. First appearance of the random corner image. I also started trying to arrange things into categories. By hand. I made each entry a separate text file, and then used virtual includes on each of the category pages. It was a pain. During this time I had an “old designs” page, which I forgot to restore until now.
2007–2008

The last pre-Wordpress site, and the first appearance of the “Gustav carrying Smeat” banner (since I got a real can around this time). Also around this time, “lightbox” style scripts were invented, so I could finally ditch that custom popup script I’d been using for images since 2000. It was pretty nice, all conforming to the image size and having a loading status, and even a title, but UGH I HATE POPUPS. I had a bunch of other silly javascript stuff in this design too. The top menu always stayed at the top, and a “go back to top” link always stayed in the lower right corner. I was also into showing and hiding blocks of text for some reason.
May, 2008–January, 2012

So I thought I’d learn how to do a site in WordPress. I spent too much time trying to get things to work to mess with the design.

KZ-01 Liger Zero (King of Flexible Mobile)

King of Flexible Mobile/metal action/ka-dou-ou was a (tragically) short-lived 1/100 scale offshoot with die cast metal parts and super articulation.

Zoicoro: Molga

One of the highly sought-after mini pullback zoids. I’ve wanted a super deformed Molga for a while. I got two of these in an auction. They were a steal because the motors were busted. My friend calls these “silly deformed”, because they are. This one and the Glidoler are a lot easier to find than most of the rest of them (you don’t even want to know what the Barigator goes for).

I got the Glidoler off Yahoo Japan (thanks to Celga) for very few yen. I don’t even think I had to pay the “shipping within Japan” fee, because it was so small. See also: Dino Comics.

KZ-02 Berserk Führer (King of Flexible Mobile)

Too bad this line died so quickly and so hard, because this guy is actually pretty cool. It would have been nice to see other zoids done in this style, or even a Storm Unit for the Führer here, but oh well. It does have the one shortcoming of super-articulated figures: the more points of articulation, the harder to get a stable pose. I almost sold this, until I came back to my senses. WHEW! The last two pics show why I will never part with this wee beasty.

Baratz (Genesis 2005)

Here are a few pieces from the Baratz series. I don’t have any of the others, because they were expensive as crap to get. There were 13 Baratz in all: six designs, each with two colors, and then the obligatory “chase” figure.

OJR Keychains

I have no idea what the deal is with these, or even where I got them. I think a seller threw them in as a freebie. I asked Lionel if he knew anything about these guys, but all he knew was that they were OJR. He did have a picture saved that I think is from the auction I won (small world). I had a Merda one previously, that I actually put on my jacket’s zipper, but the ring wore down, and I lost it. I was 24 years old.
