So far, all I have here is Dark Horn / Green Horn. I used to put the black parts from an NJR Red Horn on Dark Horn’s armor, but trying to get pictures was impossible. Not enough contrast. This would have also looked a lot better if the Dark Horn parts didn’t have those distinctive stickers.

ZED-4 Dark Horn

This is the only ZED I have, because 1) they were overpriced, and 2) it’s a Dark Horn. I managed to find this one for cheap on YJ, but after all the middleman markups it came to about retail. Damn. This one’s a windup, so at least it didn’t cost over 6000 yen (about a million US dollars in today’s economy). Anyway, it looks to be about 1/200 scale, is mostly pre-built (you add the weapons), and comes with three TINY pilots. Sadly it does not glow in the dark, but you can’t have everything.

I may never find the LB Darkhorn at a sane price, but thanks to a promo trying to get people to buy ZED (Evo Drive) zoids, and MANY thanks to ebay’s apezyap, I got the most important part—the guns.

2005: DLZ-002 Red Horn (Dino Expo)

Another Horn! This is part of the limited set for the 2005 Dinosaur Expo at the Tokyo Science Museum. There was also a Snipe Master, Genosaurer, and Raynos in this set.

2002: Z-Point Clear Red Horn

As if the crystal Molga weren’t enough, they made one of Red Horn too. There was also a crystal Death Saurer, but that one required too much shelf space, and way too much money.

2005-06: Holotech Red Horn

I did this one by using fabric dye. Mix a box of dye in a medium saucepan, bring to a simmer, throw the pieces in, and stir.

Note: If you have a gas range, I would avoid this technique like the plague. You can’t get an even and predictable heating area and run the risk of melting pieces beyond repair!

LB-06 Red Horn

The OJR horn gets his own mini-me! This one looks better in person than in pics, even with the “banana” horn. The way the back piece is set up (symmetrical!), it should be pretty easy to make LB versions of some of the more popular ’Horn customs.

Dark Horn was part of the set of “Dark” zoids, who had hella powers and glowy bits. This one’s been reissued about 397 times in the past few years, but none beat the O.G. here.
