OK, not so much a review as it is some highlights of the neato workings. This is because I’m lazy.

2007: Helic Memorial Box II 1983-1984

MIB for now and (probably) ever. Before this one there was a “Helic Memorial Box” with the first five whiteheads, but I never picked that one up, since I already have about a billion of each of those kits. All of these box sets were limited, and that set was a Toy’s Dream Project limited, making it like a double limited—i.e., I should have grabbed one. ANYWAY, this set has my favorite whiteheads.

Giant Zrk

Behold, the king of the whiteheads! This poor guy has seen better days. I’m missing half the little guns, and the neck connector has been replaced (that part is too fragile for what it needs to do). Giant Zrk (Bigasauru in the OJR) was the first large Zoid, and the basis for later large kits Mammoth (neck becomes trunk) and Gordos (extra armor added).

I know nothing of this bootleg’s origins. The box paper and instruction booklet are very thin, compared to normal ones. I don’t know about plastic quality, because I haven’t built it. I got a mess of them for cheap in 2000, sold a few when I was unemployed, donated one as a prize for Pheno’s forum contest, and kept the last one for myself.

Gurantula/Tarantulon (plus misc bits)

Is there anything blacker than this spider? No, none more black. Well, if I could have popped the transfer ring cockpit’s glass off, I could have used the Z2′s smoke one, but Starrior canopies are usually glued on. Another option (see #5 and #6) is to use a clamshell cockpit (Zillon and Molga Canory have black ones).

(Blue) Cosmozoid

aka RMZ-08 Pegasuros in the OJR. This was the last zoid I needed to complete my “whiteheads” collection. It’s a bit dopey looking, but it grew on me, and it will grow on you too. Cosmo got his own little storyline in the European comic, back in 80s times. Poor fella…

Beware: the blue plastic on this one is very brittle!
