HMM-033 Berserk Führer

Hello from the future! At long last there are some pics! It’ll still be a while before I get a full on review, so here’s the short-ish one:

VERY FEW COMPLAINTS, IF ANY.

  • 10
  • 11
  • 12
  • 13
  • 14
  • 15
  • 16
  • 17

Slightly longer review:

  • If you want to be anatomically correct, you can easily remove the “thumbs” without it looking like something is missing.
  • If you want to be anatomically incorrect, it can do “Iguan Mode” better than my dearly departed KoFM (though neither version could do it while wearing the backpack—eggbeaters just don’t sit right). And yes, I said “as well as” elsewhere, but it’s growing on me.
  • Just two bummers (so far): no individually articulated toes, like my dearly departed KoFM, and yeah, the leg joints are getting a bit loose.

I still really want to paint this pink and teal. Maybe if I do well in the next round of Fire Sale, I’ll do something foolish like commission someone with more skills and free time.

COMING IN THE YEAR 3000: Pics without the armor, even though it’s been on almost every other review for a year!

Is your mailman a werewolf? That kind of damage definitely says ‘mauling’ to me.

I see your mailmen feel the same about model kits as mine do. Mine always gives me a snarky, “Another package from Japan. Must be nice to throw your money away…”

Man that box is in some bad shape. I thought my BI blade liger was bad. 1/2 of the shipping box was so wet it water damaged the inner box, it was so bad I had to trash it. I just hoped it was from rain.

Oh I meant to ask about those clips on the claws. Do the claws not close properly without them? Not that it’s a eyesore or anything.

@Chris: without the clips they’re not perfectly straight, but nowhere near as bad as the motorized version—whose claws were really soft plastic, and thus bent as well as misaligned!

I just got this one, myself. I’ve never built a Zoid before. Do they require glue? It looks like the pieces can all snap together, but I’m new to models and don’t really know the right procedure (figured this would be a fun way to jump in!)

@Will: these don’t require glue, but there are some pretty small parts, so watch out for those. Some parts on these kits aren’t held together the best and could use some glue, but be careful with that–make sure you don’t glue something that affects movement!

On this kit, the little clear red pieces that go on the back of the legs could probably use some glue. Mine wouldn’t stay on at all, so I keep them in a tiny bag for safe keeping.
