2007: ZGe-004 Liger Red Hiou (Dengeki Hobby/Zoids Generations)

Thousands of years ago, a prophecy foretold of a “holotech” Liger Zero. Some even claimed to have seen them in stores, or even to have purchased one, but in the absence of photographic evidence, such people were branded as liars and heretics. Then, in late 2007, Liger Red Hiou was revealed—a holotech liger, but the armor was clear PINK! I think this could be the best Liger Zero ever.

CP-17 Schneider Unit (on Liger Zero)

German for “cutter” or “Blade Liger on crack”. This is the “omg pointy stabby cutty” CAS. The colors are a bit odd, but somehow work for me.

CP-20 Jäger Unit (on Liger Zero)

German for “hunter”, perhaps also a reference to Chuck Yeager, the “fastest man alive”. This is the “speed” CAS. I love the boosters on this one and would try to use them in a custom, but all the CAS-es are hell of rare now.

CP-21 Panzer Unit (on Liger Zero)

German for “tank” or “armored”, depending. This is the “firepower” CAS, and my favorite. It was way underused in the /Zero anime.

KZ-01 Liger Zero (King of Flexible Mobile)

King of Flexible Mobile/metal action/ka-dou-ou was a (tragically) short-lived 1/100 scale offshoot with die cast metal parts and super articulation.

KZ-01C Panzer Unit (for KoFM Liger Zero)

Flexible hybrid cannons! I love my little mini tank-liger. I really need to get some pics of the regular KoFM liger, don’t I…

RZ-041 Liger Zero

The hero of the /Zero anime, and probably Tomy’s biggest cash cow, what with all the variants and CAS (changing armor system) units that have been made. I originally amassed four ligers—one for each CAS, and one to be “stock”—but the thought of building four sets of those complex legs (with individual claws) was too much, and I sold off the extras.
